☂September tattoo update☂
"wonderful weather we're having"
Good morning folks,
If you are local to Portland, I hope you harbor as much excitement as I do waking to cool gloomy skies that promise hot spiced teas and crunchy leaves. This season transition brings a different work structure for me- do not worry- I am still going to be tattooing, but in a limited capacity. Some transparency is necessary: business this year has been slower than the previous few. After connecting to tattooers all over, I have collected the consensus that the industry itself seems to be in a decline. I am not discouraged nor surprised. Times are more financially stressful for most individuals with student loans resuming and ever increasing costs of living. It is no wonder why our sweet clients can’t justify new skin decorations. I say this with immense gratitude to those that read this blog, share my business cards, and get tattooed! This is my passion and I will go to great, but practical, lengths to protect the novelty of this sacred trade I get to be apart of. I love to tattoo and I want to continue taking on projects that motivate me and yield great tattoos. This brought me to the conclusion that, in order to not compromise the quality of my work, I will be branching outside of strictly depending on tattoos to maintain a steady income. I too want to make the most financially responsible and proactive decisions that I can. This means my availability for tattoos may be a bit more random and wait times may increase up to, but no more than, a week. As always, just send me an email (there is a nifty button attached that you can use for scheduling) or send me a direct message over on Instagram, @jazmintattoos.
Nonetheless, I am so excited to embark on a busy fall season. My art show is less than TWO weeks away, September 14 from 6pm-late at Honey Latte Cafe. Please consider stopping by to look at my little drawings and paintings. Bring a loved one, a bumble date, your neighbor! All are welcome, there is no entry cost and snacks are complimentary so you may as well come, right? I do not know if any art will be for sale, just approach me and ask when you are there. I am sure I will be willing to part with some pieces. There will be merch too, but you definitely will need to come see for yourself. This show feels like the best way to send off the long summer days. I enjoyed my time slow living this season, but my ideal weather conditions are on the horizon. Fall and winter have served me as artistic inspiration for as long as I can remember. So I am eager to continue romanticizing the moody PNW. Not that I ever stopped.
Yours truly,
Jaz
